45 acres of farmlands abandoned in Anamaduwa

Farmers are experiencing numerous hardships due to the dilapidated state of the Aththikulama tank at Anamaduwa. The government has continued to fail the people and the farmers in its renovation.

Although it has the capacity to hold water up to 6000 acre-feet of water, currently it holds only 1000 acre-feet.

The farmers in the area noted that due to lack of water they had to abandon 45 acres of farmland.

Countless appeals to the authorities requesting the tank to be renovated have deemed futile.
