President made these comments during the concluding programme of “Let’s Stand Together for the Country”Monaragala District Programme held at Bibila Public Ground.

Speaking at the gathering President said when he is taking the lead to eradicate the drug menace which has become a national disaster from this country, politicians as well as the officials have come forward to protect the drug dealers. Innocent children of this country will have to bear the consequences of their unscrupulous acts in few years said the President adding that those who file petitions against the death penalty irrespective of their positions or forms are the dupes of these drug kingpins.

“One cannot ignore the damage caused by the illegal drug trafficking and it has developed to a national disaster because none of the politicians who assumed power in the past did not take actions against the drug dealers for their petty political gains.
