‘Why should I resign’: Bathiudeen

The Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on Saturday recorded over five-hour long statement from Minister Rishad Bathiudeen over an alleged financial misappropriation.

Police said the minister was summoned by the FCID to record a statement in connection with financial misappropriation which had taken place when importing 257,000 Mt of rice for Lanka Sathosa during the years 2014/15.

When journalist asked the minister who was leaving the FCID, about his statement that he would resigned if the President and the Prime Minister asked, the minister said “I have done nothing wrong. media mafia has convicted me and why should I resign”.

He said the select committee was appointed and he would give answers to the select committee

When asked about the no-confidence motion against him, the minister said “ We are ready for NCM because we have done nothing wrong”.
