Nineteen people have sustained injuries in a motor accident in Galahitiya, Godakawela along the Rathnapura-Embilipitiya main road last night (May 23).
Police stated that the accident occurred when a private bus with a party that attended a wedding in Avissawella had crashed onto a parked container on its way back towards Matara.
The injured includes 12 women and 3 children. They have been admitted to the Godakawela and Kahawatte hospitals.
Our correspondent reported that the accident occurred between 7.30 pm and 8.00 pm. The driver of the private bus was arrested over the incident.
