Hong Kong fell short in their bid to qualify for the World Cup in Liverpool next year, going down 55-46 to Sri Lanka at the Asian Netball Championships in Singapore.
After being blown away 71-48 by the Sri Lankans on Thursday’s group match, Hong Kong, combated Sri Lanka’s 2.08-metre goal shooter Tharjini Sivalingam far better than when the two teams first met but the powerful Sri Lankans eventually wore down Robin Manihera’s side, pulling away in the second half after leading by four at the main break.
Sri Lanka will be now facing Singapore at the finals who defeated Malaysia 51-43 in the other semi. Tomorrow’s final will be at 1.30pm SL time. Which also opens the doors for Sri Lanka to qualify for the Netball World cup in Liverpool next year.
